We spent a busy Saturday on the green in Church Street handing out balloons and sweets to children and running a busy tombola, the proceeds from which have been donated to the local Stay Project.
Our Managing Director, Jo Culley said:
‘DB Roberts have been in Wellington for almost 60 years, the late Denis Roberts having first opened for business in 1964 in Church Street, from where we moved to our present premises in Market Street. We love to support events such as the Fayre and this year one of our staff played the part of the King in the parade.’
Working in cooperation with Stay, we have been able to fund the purchase of 10 sleeping bags which will immediately be put to good use.
Our Chairman, Bill Brookes, added:
‘As a Wellington resident myself, and having started my working life at DB Roberts straight from school, it was great to see so many familiar faces at the Fayre while also raising money for a very deserving cause. Over nearly 60 years, we have sold thousands of homes for local people but as a Company we are acutely aware there are many who find themselves homeless for no fault of their own, so its only right that we help whenever we can’.
